Submission Guidelines

Arcade Project welcomes submissions from writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience.

Proposals are preferred over completed pieces, but pre-existing articles will be considered as long as they haven’t been published elsewhere. Please disclose if a submission or article is under consideration by other outlets.

Arcade Project publishes reviews of art exhibitions, films, TV shows, and books, as well as interviews with artists, curators, and other media figures.

In your submission, please include:

  • Details about the show under review:

    • For an art exhibition, please include the dates of exhibition, location, and the names of any involved artists and curators.

    • For a film, include the director’s name and, if not a wide release, locations and times of screenings.

    • For TV shows, include its broadcast schedule and any streaming platforms on which it can be seen.

    • For a book, include the author’s name, date of publication, and publisher.

    • For an interview, include a brief bio of the subject and the circumstances and significance of the interview.

  • A paragraph briefly describing the show.

  • A paragraph outlining your perspective on the show, its critical significance, and why you think it would be a good fit for Arcade Project.

Along with your submission, please disclose any potential conflicts of interest. Do not submit if you are being compensated by a gallery, foundation, media representative, or artist for writing the review. If you have a pre-existing personal or financial relationship with the artist, interviewee, or anyone associated with the subject of the review, please disclose this in advance, as it may affect the form of the finished work (a personal essay rather than an objective review, for example).

Arcade Project does not publish paid promotions or press releases. All content, except for cited quotations, must be the author’s original writing. Arcade Project reserves the right to refuse to publish, or to pull from publication, any material that has been misrepresented or accepted under misleading circumstances.

Upon acceptance of a proposal, a mutually agreeable length, deadline, and fee will be negotiated. Arcade Project reserves the right to terminate our acceptance without compensation should an undisclosed conflict of interest be uncovered, the deadline passes, or if the final form greatly diverges from what was previously agreed upon.

Please email drafts as attached Microsoft Word documents, not as links to Google Docs or in the body of an email.

Arcade Project strives to be a visually compelling publication. Along with your draft, please provide at least four quality high-resolution JPEG or TIF files, a link to a press kit containing such images, or contact info for a press representative who can provide them. Please use official images provided by the gallery whenever possible. For each image, provide the following information:

  • Artist’s name

  • Date of execution

  • Materials

  • Dimensions

  • Photography credit
