Arcade Project is pleased to present Twisted Twins – XXY, an immersive photo and video installation by Eva Mueller, at Satellite Art Show, NYC 2019.

Twisted Twins – XXY is a playful take on gender, age and sexuality. It features two characters of uncertain age, origin, and gender dwelling in a dystopian environment, engaging in acts of love, lust and play. The androgynous partners in crime engage and interact in a sexual yet tender and innocent way. The viewer is lured into in the Twisted Twins’ world and invited to create their own narrative as they move through the installation, a fantastical space of blurred identities and infinite possibilities.

Born and raised in Germany, Eva Mueller currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Her artistic practice focuses on the core constructs of human existence and identity—race, gender and sexuality. Her works subvert common tropes and assumptions, opening up a world of possibilities. Mueller celebrated queer identity in GenderFuck. She juxtaposed unapologetic sexuality with a keen sense of aesthetics in Flowers & Chocolate.

Mueller began her career as an art director in Munich. She moved to New York in the 1990s to study photography at the International Center for Photography (ICP), transitioning to a career in fashion and beauty editorials, the music industry, and portraiture. Her technical expertise and polished studio style are used to explore unusual forms and surfaces, finding beauty in what the viewer might often overlook.
